Title: The "Why" of the Fort Hood massacre
Author: Andrew Molchan
Date: Tue November 10th, 2009

US Army Major Nidal M. Hasan MD, a US born citizen, medical doctor and psychiatrist, murdered 13 people at the Fort Hood, Texas, Army Camp on November 6th 2009. The question is, "Why?"

So deeply sad. I am in deep pain over the horrible massacre of young American troops. Men and women who had so much to live for, and their lives were cut short by forces they probably never fully understood. I think about the lives they'll never have. The children they'll never see. The heartbreak of their parents, brothers, sisters and friends, having to bury a person who held so much promise for the future.

I feel the pain. Average people tend to think that professional students of war, like myself, become immune to death. With the best students of military conflict the opposite is true. At a certain point the proficient student of war understands the suffering of war both intellectually and emotionally.

More than just books.  I had three soldiers die in my arms from battlefield wounds. Having a young person die in your arms is a horrible mental tattoo. I had recurring unpleasant dreams about those deaths for over 30 years. What happened at Fort Hood flashed back many bad memories.

Delusion keeps riding high. Many times I've mentioned the pain of being able to see things with more clarity than most people. The newspapers and talking heads on TV shows are asking, "How could this happen?" and "What could possibly have been the motivation?" Senator Lieberman is calling for an investigation of the Army. My guess is that the "why" of the attack will be systemically buried and lost (as usual.) The "investigation" will be reminiscent of a Joe McCarthy-type attack on the Army. It will also be turned into a witch-hunt against all American Muslims, and the real "why" of the attack will be deliberately lost in the shuffle like it has been since 9/11.

An inconvenient truth. For several years I've been pointing out the "why" of the majority of Muslim attacks against Americans around the world. However, it's a "why" that does NOT fit into the overall America matrix of lies. The real "why" is an inconvenient truth that flies in the face of America's overall actions toward Muslims around the world. The pain that I feel is the pain of knowing that almost none of this had to happen.

Insanity. For years (in particular since 9/11) the "official" US government explanation (and TV news explanation) for Muslim terrorism is that the "terrorists" are some kind of combination of John Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde, Al Capone, some comic book villain, plus Attila the Hun.

The real "Why?" For several years it's been crystal clear to me that MORAL OUTRAGE has been the main motivating factor for most Muslim attacks against US personal, interests and property. Moral outrage will continue to be the main motivating factor for Muslim terrorists until the basic Middle East paradigm is changed.

Most American's will say, "Outrage against what?"  The outrage is against America's moral hypocrisy, the communist-like twisted use of words, the lies, the delusional self-righteousness, and the double standards. It's a moral outrage against America's ultra right-wing Christians who believe a nuclear war against the Muslims is God's will. It's a moral outrage against the America's complicity in the systematic murder of women and children. The epicenter of the moral outrage has been, is, and will continue to be the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Through different eyes. The American government and the big news media in the USA, in addition to most Americans do NOT see much wrong with the Gaza Strip or the West Bank. However, though Muslim eyes the two areas are viewed as basically Nazi occupied Warsaw in 1943. The Gaza Strip and the West Bank are the wellsprings of Muslim terrorism in the world. Everyone else in the world, aside from the USA, clearly sees this.

Right or wrong - makes no difference. The talking heads in the USA will argue that life in the Gaza Strip really isn't that bad, and comparing it to Nazi occupied Warsaw really is unfair, etc, and so forth into the dark night of the worst kinds of academic double talk. The point is this, hundreds of millions of Muslims are morally outraged and the US dropping bombs on them has not, and will NOT change their minds. It's time for the US to recognize that failed policies are failed policies. It's time for the Washington D.C. dead heads to understand that if you make a failed policy bigger, the only thing you'll ever get is a bigger failure.

Sometimes you have to rescue a nation from itself. A large part of WWII was rescuing the German and Japanese people from themselves. As I've said in many articles over the last 20 years, the Jewish people in Israel are NOT capable by rescuing themselves from the toxic infection of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Gaza and the West Bank are infections that keep pumping toxins into the blood streams of both Israel and the USA. Any Jewish Prime Minister who actually tried to rescue Israel would either be voted out of office, or assassinated by ultra right wing Jews in Israel. Even with America, it's an open question as to America having the capacity to rescue itself from the Middle East. My point is this, sometimes you have to drag a nation, kicking and screaming, into doing the right thing for their best long-term interests. This is one of those cases, and after almost 40 years of failure it's time for America's press and politicians to find the courage to face the truth.

President Obama's chance at history.  President Obama should go to Israel. Stand in front of the Berlin Wall type structure that separates Israel and the West Bank, and President Obama should say, "Tear down this wall!"

Osama bin Laden is NOT the problem. America's intellectually dishonest, cowardly, strategy planning whores have for years been saying that Osama bin Laden is the problem. Mr. bin Laden is not the problem. He's a product of the problem. He's a symptom of the problem. If Osama bin Laden hadn't been at the head of the 9/11 attack somebody else would have been. Mr. Bin Laden's death (if he's still alive) will mean NOTHING. I am one of the best military grand strategy planners in the world and I can give you a 100% guarantee that Mr. Bin Laden is not the cause of Muslim outrage, and his death will be absolutely irrelevant towards its cure. The American Army's chance of avoiding eventual defeat in the Middle East is zero. It should plan accordingly.

I (Andrew Molchan) always had it right. In the February 2004 issue (5-1/2 years ago), on page 37 of that issue I wrote, "So what's my guess for this Ninth Crusade and Iraq? The Christian West lost the first eight Crusades for the same reasons the British lost the American Revolution and the USA lost in Vietnam. Even though the Crusaders were vastly superior... they could never pin down the Muslims. Al Qaeda is NOT even trying to win a classic old-fashioned military victory. Al Qaeda is trying to bleed America to death financially and is after a financial victory."

I have been always years ahead of Washington D.C.'s so-called planners. Sometimes my predictions have been decades ahead as when I outlined the 9/11 type attack back in 1974. In the June 2004 issue of AFI Magazine (5 years ago), I wrote on page 38, "The real military objective of al Qaeda is something the Washington power elite are not even thinking about. Al Qaeda's ultimate objective is the destruction of the American dollar. By bleeding America financially, and by running up America's already massive debts, al Qaeda is already winning." Today, five years after the above accurate analysis, the brain dead idiots in Washington D. C. still do NOT get it. They still have no clue whatsoever as to what's happening and why.

I had correctly analyzed Osama Bin Laden's grand strategy right from the start.  Immediately after 9/11, President Bush was screaming every day, "America's democracy is the target of the terrorists."  In the October 2001 issue of AFI Magazine (one of the best predictive magazines in the world,) I wrote on page 36, "The United States is NOT the target. The terrorists don't give a flying camel about American Democracy. The real target is Israel. Israel continues to exist because the Middle Eastern governments want American dollars. If the terrorists destroy the USA as a financial power they destroy Israel." Osama's grand strategy (an indirect strategy along the lines of Liddell Hart) always was, and still is, a strategy of, (1) keep the USA bogged down in Middle East wars that never end, but just go on, and on, and on forever. (2) The wars will financially bleed the USA, and expose America's debt ridden weaknesses, until the USA has a financial meltdown. (3) When the USA is financially crippled, and the world no long wants US dollars, then Israel is mortally weakened because the USA is Israel's one and only world backer. (4) Without a need for US dollars, the countries around Israel: Turkey, Egypt, Jordon, Syria, and so forth will put a trade and communications embargo on Israel. (5) Al Qaeda will take over control of Pakistan, and gain control of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. (6) Iran already has ICBMs that can easily reach any part of Israel. (7) Pakistan's nuclear arsenal will be combined with Iran's ICBMs. As of this time, November 2009, the USA continues to buy into the trap.

The wrong side of history. For many years American's Generals, and Washington D.C. dead heads, sincerely believed that Ho Chi Minh was the "cause" of the Vietnam War and if they could kill him the war would be over. In 1964 I predicted that the North Vietnamese would win the war because it was crystal clear to me that the Vietnamese had made up their minds to drive the white man out of Vietnam no matter what the cost. Ho Chi Minh died in 1969, but the American forces were nevertheless driven out of Vietnam in 1975. In Vietnam, the USA was on the wrong side of history. In the Middle East, the USA is once again on the wrong side of history and will once again eventually lose. THERE NEVER WAS A MILITARY SOLUTION FOR THE USA IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

What is, "Supporting the troops?" For many Americans, if American troops are somewhere in the world fighting then that means you should be "supporting the troops." This is a classic German Sergeant mindset that believes it makes no different where you're fighting, or what you're fighting for, or why you're fighting at all. If "your troops" are fighting then you, "support the troops." This is the attitude that gave us 60,000 young Americans dead in Vietnam. In retrospect thousands of those dead American teenagers would have benefited from a little less "support."

What is America's grand strategy for the Middle East? The unwanted truth is that America does NOT have a viable grand strategy for the Middle East. The delusional grand strategy for the Middle East is much like the Vietnam War's delusional grand strategy. America's de facto grand strategy for the Middle East is: (1) If American forces drop enough bombs and kill enough Muslims, and do this for years and years, then eventually something good has to happen. (2) If America ignores the Gaza Strip situation, and the West Bank situation for long enough then somehow all of the world's Muslims will magically come to embrace racism, religious bigotry, oppression, and the systematic murder of their follow Muslims.

I am not anti-war. For the last 40 years I've been consistently saying that I am NOT against wars. Aside from college and the Army, I've been in the arms industry all of my life. Killing things is what we do. The guns and ammunition used in wars is made by my industry. I'm not against wars, but I've always been very much against LOSING wars. It would do America's fat heads in Washington D.C., and the Generals at the Pentagon, a lot of good if they remind themselves that America has NOT clearly won a significant shooting war in 63 years. The "Iraq War," January 16th 1991 to _____ is still ongoing. My prediction is that it will eventually leave a very bitter taste in the mouth of the USA. The bottom line is that without a Gaza Strip and West Bank solution everything else is the useless murder of US troops.

Reality check. The Gaza Strip and the West Bank are not going to go away by themselves. The world's one billion Muslims are not going away. Despite all of the American denial, the Gaza Strip and West Bank have been, and will be, the number one cause of Muslim moral outrage. Despite all of the American denial, Muslim moral outrage is not going away unless the source of that outrage can be changed for the better. Winning the war in the Middle East is NOT about guns and bombs, it's all about PERCEPTION.

Think about it,
